Student Central, University of Bradford

The refurbishment of the existing 3-storey communal building created a new base for the University of Bradford Student’s Union, providing space for students to work and relax. The union sits alongside the Counselling and Careers service, a shop and a café.

The aim of the project was to provide a fully enclosed space that can be used all-year-round, providing an important link between the academic and social aspects of student life at the University.

The project was a £7m refurbishment and extension to a 1970’s concrete building which  involved  the  covering of an existing open air atrium with  a  feature Glulam timber roof, along with a new bridge link to  the adjacent library building and roof garden.
